Mercy Chinwo is a gospel songwriter, singer, musician, actress, and comedian. Her love for music started at the age of eight, and she joined the children’s choir in the year 2012. She participated in the Nigerian Idol Season 2 and emerged the winner.


Her Life and Career


Mercy Chinwo was born in Port Harcourt, River State in the year 1991. She’s the first daughter and the fourth out of five children. Her father died at a very young age. Her first song was released in the year 2015, titled "Testimony," and she released "Igwe" in the year 2017. She’s currently married to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, who hails from Delta State, Nigeria.


Acting Career


After emerging as the winner of Nigeria Idol Season 2, she got her first film role as Lucia in a movie titled "House of Gold," starring Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson, Omowunmi, and many others. The House of the Gold movie won the best picture at the Ghana movie award and was also the best Ghanaian movie in the year 2013.

Pastor Blessed Uzochukwa is a graduate of Stanford University in London. He works as an associate product manager, network engineer, and I.T administrator. He is also a pastor at the Water Brook Church, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

In 2019, at the first edition of the Africa Gospel Award Festival (AGAFEST 2019), Mercy Chinwo was announced the winner in the categories: Africa Gospel Female Artiste of the Year and Africa New Artiste of the Year because of her song "Excess Love".


In 2020, Mercy Chinwo was awarded the Gospel Artist of the Year at the AFRIMMA awards.
